Get rid of foods that have preservatives or are enriched and Substance P. Say what? Substance P is a pro-inflammatory protein found in swollen tissues and abnormal cells. Decreasing ‘substance P can decrease pain, swelling, and even joint and tissue damage.
Eat and drink whole foods, fruits and vegetables, and add these beautiful spices that contain anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric, ginger, cayenne pepper (which contains capsaicin which reduces substance P).
Olive Oil works like ibuprofen and other such medications due to its oleocanthal – a natural, and powerful anti-oxidant. The omega-3 fatty acids in Olive oil also blast inflammation.
Walnuts, full of omega-3 fatty acids, have been shown to reduce inflammation in the body.
Cocoa is so deliciously good, for not only is it tasty, it can raise flavanols in the body, which eliminate toxins and are known to reduce the production and effect of pro-inflammatory substances. Dark-chocolate is the best!
Red Wine drunk in moderation can improve heart health and diabetes because of another natural anti-inflammatory -resveratrol. Remember, a little red goes a long way.
White and Green Teas are full of polyphenols, which are found in foods and spices that fight off inflammation and reduce oxidative stress.
Lastly, exercising helps digestion (elimination of… well you know), circulation, and the distribution of these healthy foods. Good stretching also helps reduce some joint inflammation and certainly the pain. A good personal trainer will help you do it right!
